Back on Track!

I'm back! Yes, I could be the world's worst blogger! After much grief from friends about my lack of commitment and dedication to my blog, I'm back on track.
Since my last posting, we have had some memorable and exciting days here in California. One of which was a visit from Deidre, one of my best friends from North Dakota and fellow former MBA classmate. We were able to spend a day together in San Diego. It was a great trip of lunch at a restuarant overlooking the beautiful beach, a stroll at the beach, and she finally met Miles and Mico. It was a nice trip and I loved seeing her smiling face and her positive attitude. Thanks so much for the visit!

We celebrated Mico's 5th birthday on Easter weekend. We had his birthday party at a park by our home. We invited his cousins and we had a barbaque. It was my first time hosting a child's birthday party...wow! I took notes and will now know what to expect for next time. It was so much fun!

Another highlight of the past couple months was the Crop Walk for Hunger that Dean's employer sponsored. The walk was 2.1 miles around the downtown area of Escondido. It was a fun outing with Dean, Miles, Mico, Scout, and myself. The boys were little troopers and hung in there for the whole 2.1 miles.

Ready to start the Crop Walk for Hunger

After the 2.1 Crop Walk for Hunger...

Until next time...take care!

Family Visit

My mom and sister, Sharee, came out to San Diego for a much needed visit last week. They arrived last Saturday evening and stayed eight days at our place. I finally was able to show them my new world so far from Minnesota.

During their visit, we covered a lot of ground from going to the beach to watch sunsets to shopping in downtown San Diego. Some of the many highlights of the trip was a tour of the U.S.S Midway Naval Ship at the harbor, lunch in Little Italy (excluding the weirdo man), dinner at Norte Mexican restaurant, and hanging out.

Scout was a big hit!

Their visit fell on my birthday which was the best gift of all and we had the boys, too. We started the day with a hike and then got ready and went shopping. We grilled steaks for dinner and drank margaritas. It was a blast!

It was a wonderful visit and was so hard to see them go. I mostly enjoyed just hanging out at our home and laughing. I miss them so much already.

Welcome to my blog!

Hello Friends and Family,

Today marks my official first day of becoming a Blogger. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to share with you all my life in San Diego through updates and pictures. My hope is that this blog will be another way to stay connected with the people in my life that I love so much, but am separated by distance.

My life has changed drastically over the past couple months with my move to beautiful, sunny San Diego, CA. I moved here in October, 2008 with Dean, my boyfriend of over three years, to start a new life with his two sons, Miles (7) and Mico (4). After being separated from the boys for far too long, we decided to take a leap of faith and move to one of the most beautiful cities in the world, San Diego. Our lives have been amazing, busy, joyful, and trying since arriving to our new home.

On Christmas Eve night, we got our first puppy. Scout is a chocolate lab and tons of fun. She has brought so much joy to our lives. She's awesome!

California living is definitely a wonderful change in my life. The two pictures above are the Carlsbad Beach, which is only two miles from our house. We have spent many weekends at the beach with the boys, watching sunsets, and walking Scout. I love it...it's so peaceful and quiet. I feel so lucky to live so close to the ocean. With our new city, I'm working on myself as well. Living healthier and thinking more positive.

We are blessed to have Miles and Mico every weekend! Therefore, expect to see pictures of them and wherever our adventures may lead us. I will try to keep this blog updated with the latest information. Stay tuned. I miss you all!
